Vinnie Jones is a retired professional footballer turned Hollywood star, seen in a number of feature films and television programmes.

He was first approached in 1998 by then up-and-coming director Guy Ritchie for a role in Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998). Since then, he hasn’t looked back, and he has become a bona-fide movie star. Ritchie’s film was a huge success in both Europe and the USA, and Vinnie’s new career ascended just as quickly. He went on to start in hits such as Snatch (2000) and the X-Men saga (2000-2020).

More About Vinnie Jones

Vinnie Jones started out as a professional footballer, playing for the likes of Leeds United, Sheffield United, Queen Park Rangers and Chelsea, but most notably, for Wimbledon. With Wimbledon, Vinnie won the 1988 FA Cup Final as part of the so-called ‘crazy gang’, and played over 200 times for the team. He also played for the Wales international team between 1994-1997.

The tough demeanour he showed on the football pitch became his trademark on the big screen, and he is often cast as gangster characters in films.

To date, Vinnie has starred in over 100 feature films and television projects, working with some of the industry’s top producers and directors. He has turned his hand to dramatic films, blockbusters, comedy and animation, including Gone in Sixty Seconds (2000), X-Men 3: The Last Stand (2006), She’s The Man (2006), Escape Plan (2013) and Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted (2012).

On TV, you can find him in Elementary (2012-2019), Arrow (2012-2020), Law & Order (1990-), MacGyver (2016-2021) and NCIS: Los Angeles (2009-), as well as hosting his own documentary, Vinnie Jones: Russia’s Toughest (2013) which aired in over 170 countries. He has starred in television advertising campaigns for the likes of Ladbrokes, Brut and the British Heart Foundation.

He has combined his football and acting experience into several highly successful books including Vinnie: The Autobiography (1998), It’s Been Emotional (2013) and Lost Without You: Loving and Losing Tanya (2020), about the loss of his wife of 25 years; it became an instant Sunday Times bestseller.
