MONTY HALLS – INTO THE BLUE

Monty Halls’ experience as a Royal Marine set him up for the adventuring career he would go on to succeed in. Having once worked for Nelson Mandela, Monty took a change of career and moved into the expedition world, qualifying as a Marine Biologist and travelling to some of the most inhospitable environments on the planet.

Since finding his own expedition company in 2003, he has since led expeditions to Malawi to explore a lake’s ecosystem and investigate poaching activity, to South Africa looking for prehistoric settlements in caves, plus no less than four circumnavigations of the globe.

Monty’s exploration experience brought him to the attention of television producers, and he has since worked for Channel 4, Channel 5, the BBC, the History Channel and National Geographic.

He is best known for his BBC series Great Escapes (2018-), where he lived on the Scotland and Ireland coasts with his dog. He has also presented Great Barrier Reef (2012), Great Ocean Adventures (2006), Monty Hall’s Dive Mysteries (2013), Lost Worlds (2015), The Fisherman’s Apprentice (2012), WWII’S Great Escapes: The Freedom Trails (2017) and My Family and the Galapagos (2018-2020). He was also a contestant (and winner) on Superhumans (2004), a one-off programme which saw 10 people undergo extreme physical and mental tests to find Britain’s most superhuman.

Using his experience as a Royal Marine, a scientist and an explorer, Monty has become a passionate keynote and corporate speaker and course leader. In 2016, he founded ‘Leaderbox’, a training system drawn from elite sports, business, military and education that helps create a leadership culture within companies.

MONTY HALLS – AWARDS

In 2003, Monty was awarded the Bish Medal by the Scientific Exploration Society for his services to the world of exploration. In 2010 he was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Science degree from Plymouth University, and in 2016 was awarded the Outstanding Contribution to Diving medal by Sport Diver magazine.
