Debbie McGee
Debbie McGee was once best known for being the wife of world-famous magician Paul Daniels, but since his passing, she has leapt into the public eye as a presenter, choreographer, performer and after-dinner speaker in her own right.
Before her magic and TV career, Debbie was a ballet dancer, and artistic director of her own ballet company. She produced and starred in ballet shows such as Swan Lake, Coppelia, The Artist’s Dream and Phantom.
She can often be heard on the radio presenting a Sunday morning show for BBC Radio Berkshire, appearing on BBC Radio 4’s programme My Teenage Diaries (2018) and presenting a two-part documentary about being a magician’s assistant, Box Jumpers (2004). She was a finalist in the 2017 series of popular show Strictly Come Dancing (2004-) and is a regular guest on Loose Women (1999-).
Debbie is a highly entertaining and popular speaker, host and performer, available for private or corporate events, awards ceremonies and after-dinner speeches, open to speaking about anything from magic and performing, her charity work, modelling, ballet and being in the public eye.

Debbie McGee’s career started in dance; she studied at the Royal Ballet School before joining the Iranian National Ballet Company. aged 19, she became part of the Corps de Ballet and later a soloist, but her ballet career was brought to an abrupt end by the Iranian Revolution.

Returning to the UK, she found a job performing on stage with magician Paul Daniels, working with him in his London show ‘It’s Magic’ which became the longest-running magic show in the West End at the time and on The Paul Daniels Magic Show (1977-1994). The two married in 1988 and were together until his death in 2016.

In 1991, thanks to her role in the magic shows, she became the first female member of The Magic Circle. She was the 2017 winner of the Magic Circle’s Maskelyne award for services to British magic, the same award her husband won in 1988. Still intent on dancing, Debbie and Paul set up ‘Ballet Imaginaire’, a company to produce and tour ballet shows. Sadly, this was not a financial success and they closed.
