Joan Collins has made a number of well-received feature films including The Virgin Queen (1955), The Girl in the Red Velvet Swing (1955), Land of the Pharaohs (1955), In the Bleak Midwinter (1995), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (1999) and Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie (2016).

JOAN COLLINS: STAGE WORK

Joan made her London stage debut at the age of nine in Ibsen’s A Doll’s House at the Arts Theatre. She then went on to study at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts when she was 16.

Her first major theatrical roles included The Seventh Veil, The Praying Mantis, Jassy and Claudia & David. After years of working on the television screen, she returned to the stage in the 80s to star in The Last of Mrs Cheyney followed by Noel Coward’s Private Lives in 1990. In 2000, she completed an American tour of Love Letters; Ken Ludwig’s Over the Moon in 2001 at London’s Old Vic Theatre; and the UK tour of Alan Melville’s Full Circle in 2004.

She has also toured her one-woman shows around the world as far as America, Australia and the Middle East. ‘An Evening with Joan Collins’ gives audiences a fascinating glimpse into her world on stage and screen. ‘Joan Collins Unscripted’ sees audiences enthralled as Joan reveals exciting stories and secrets from her career and answer audience questions.

JOAN COLLINS: CHARITY WORK

Joan is deeply concerned about children and is an honorary founding member of the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC). She has supported several foster children in India for over 25 years. In 1988, the Joan Collins Wing of the Children’s Hospital of Michigan was opened, and in 1994, the Association of Breast Cancer Studies presented her with a Lifetime Achievement award for her humanitarianism.

Since 1993 she has been a patron of the International Foundation for Children with Learning Disabilities and in 1998, the Foundation awarded her with its highest honours for continuing support.

She is a patron of The Shooting Star Hospice for terminally ill children, a patron for Fight for Sigh, has attended fundraising galas for The Alzheimer’s Association, and has supported Action for Sick Children, Brainbox and Giving Tales/UNICEF.
